A special thanks to Abby Mencke for her insightful presentation about incorporating diverse texts at the staff meeting: it was inspiring to hear ideas on using these new books to help students see themselves and others reflected in literature. An additional thank you goes out to our staff for always being willing to learn and grow for the betterment of our students!

We hope to see you at the Aquatic Center Open House.

Second Grade learned all about what happens when you dial 911. They learned that you can even text 911 in a quiet emergency!

Second graders have been working hard on using nonstandard and standard units to measure various objects in math

Fremont High School is running a Trine dual credit education class. Joyce Dirig, an excellent high school English teacher, is teaching the course. The students spent quite a bit of time in Fremont Elementary, but had the opportunity to observe Jefferson as well. We were so grateful to have the opportunity to welcome the students from Fremont High School into our classrooms. This visit was an excellent opportunity for them to experience a diverse and vibrant school community, a valuable contrast to their smaller town of Fremont. We love having visitors, and are so grateful to host these students!

Branch ISD PAC presents "Make a Difference" Awards!
The make a difference award is given on an annual basis to individuals who have made a significant, positive impact on the educational experience of a student with special needs. Nominate a teacher today!

Mrs. Hodge's class has been diligently building life skills within their academic time. We have been learning how to create a good partnership in conjunction with setting personal goals regularly. Students have been practicing knowing when to ask for help and who to partner with. Students have focused on empowering themselves and boosting their confidence by practicing making these responsible choices. That is their classroom goal as they continue together for the remainder of the year. Watching them create meaningful groups during class time has been empowering.

Mrs. Mencke's class and Mrs. Hodge's class recently read about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Students identified various inside character traits of Martin Luther King Jr. Students created a drawing of him, putting the character traits in the stained glass window behind him. They then read the book Be a King and chose a way that they could "be a king" too by demonstrating similar character traits to Martin Luther King Jr. Students were reflective, talking about ways that are actively showing qualities like honesty, integrity, kindness, respect, responsibility, compassion, courage, loyalty, patience, and fairness through their actions and interactions with others.

Mrs. Welker's class has been working diligently on their informational writing. Students wrote a nonfiction animal book, published it using Google Slides, and shared the books with each other. We are so proud of our third-grade authors!
