Jefferson Elementary School was closed today due to an electrical situation overnight. A custodian smelled what could best be described as wire burning. The custodian called 911 and Coldwater Fire Department responded. There was no fire, but the smell was confirmed. This district’s maintenance department was sent to the building as there was no power at the time.
Jepson Electric sent an electrician who tested lines entering the building from the transformer. Three lines were found to be inoperable. In order to restore power to the building, the three lines needed to be replaced, and the estimated time for the work would not allow for us to open the building today.
As of 10:30 this morning, power has been restored and our maintenance department and technology director were testing throughout the building to ensure no damage.
A very special thanks to the custodian who contacted 911, Coldwater Fire Department, our maintenance crew and Jepson Electric for the quick response to get our building back up and running!

Our annual parent picnic lunch was a hit! Thank you to all who had the opportunity to join us!

We have been so lucky to have Kayla Monville and Brad & Dominique Prater visit our classrooms to read and share about autism awareness. Their time and insight helped our students better understand and appreciate each other's differences.

We appreciate our paraprofessionals!

We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to enjoy a preview of The Beauty and the Beast!

Mrs. Hodge's class has begun JA with their volunteer, Curtis Kirkendall-Moss. Mr. Curtis is the Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager at The Huntington National Bank here in Coldwater! He is teaching their class all about the importance of money and the four money choices (earning, saving, spending, and donating). Her students are looking forward to spending the next 5 weeks together!

Second Graders had the amazing opportunity this year to Adopt-a-Cop. Students have learned many safety tips throughout the year! We are so grateful to partner with our amazing community members to bring this program to the students of Jefferson Elementary!
