Good afternoon,
I hope you had a restful spring break. This is a message pertaining to the Branch County Childcare Survey. Our goal is to gather data that will guide us in prioritizing key areas within the childcare sector and we would love to get feedback from you. The more data we can have to compare to other counties and previous surveys, the better. This will help us identify pain-points and trends among our community. The survey is available in the following languages to ensure it’s accessible to as many people as possible:

Wow! What an amazing day of science fun at SCIENCEPALOOZA! 🔬🧪🚀
Our Max Larsen students had a blast exploring hands-on science activities today! From testing their own body's electricity ⚡ to solving tricky balancing puzzles 🤹♂️, students got to be real scientists.
Some highlights:
- Using clues by feeling inside the mystery boxes to determine what is was 📦
- Watching things float in our mini "outer space" vacuum chambers 🌌
- Building ocean food webs with Jenga blocks 🐠🦈
- Programming color-sensing robots 🤖
- Making and flying their very own hoop gliders ✈️
Students loved playing memory games with LEGO bricks 🧱. They even got to do a "gravity-defying" water experiment! 😮
These fun activities helped our students learn about electricity, gravity, space, ecosystems, coding, and more - all while having a great time!
A big THANK YOU to all of our amazing volunteers who made this day possible. We couldn't have done it without your help and support! 👏👏👏

Statement from District

Wednesday is Count Day! ❤️ Counting every student is important for school funding - please make sure your children attend school on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Count Day determines our state funding and is based on attendance for the day. If your child will not be in school, please make sure to call in their absence to the school office.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who attended our McTeacher's Night at McDonald's last night. Your participation has made a significant impact for our students.
A special shoutout goes to Mrs. Stroud for her exceptional coordination of this wonderful event. We sincerely appreciate her hard work and dedication. Also, thank you to all of our teachers who worked the event.
We are also profoundly thankful to the Maynard family, owners of the local McDonald's, for their generous support of Max Larsen in this fundraiser. Together, we raised $71.27 in cash donations and $487.64 from our event, bringing our total to $548.91!
This event exemplifies the spirit of community—coming together to support our youngest Coldwater Cardinals. Thank you for being an integral part of this remarkable effort! ❤️

Coldwater Families:
We have been very fortunate this year with weather and the ability to keep schools open for our students. As conditions could change, I would like to take this opportunity to share with you some of the considerations that go into the decision to close schools for a day.
When considering a closure, we monitor weather forecasts, road conditions, and special alerts/updates from the National Weather Service. We also collaborate with other districts in the county and talk with area superintendents, maintenance, and transportation teams to assess the safety of travel and the condition of our facilities.
The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. To determine if a closure is necessary, we closely monitor:
Weather Conditions: Heavy snow, ice, or freezing rain that may create hazardous travel conditions.
Road Conditions: Reports from transportation officials and local authorities regarding road safety for buses and personal vehicles.
Wind Chill: Extreme cold, particularly wind chill temperatures below -20°F, which may pose a danger to students waiting at bus stops or walking to school.
We strive to make decisions as early as possible and will communicate closures through local media, emails, social media, and our district app. Please ensure your contact information is up to date in our system.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to ensure everyone’s safety.

Every year Mrs. Stroud's class collects pop cans to raise money to give a Thanksgiving dinner basket to a needy Coldwater family. This year, the class collected 727 cans. In addition to providing a full meal, they added a Walmart gift card. This is Mrs. Stroud's 35th year of teaching our little cardinals the importance of giving back to our wonderful community.

Good morning,
Friendly reminder that today is a half day. We dismiss at 12:15 p.m.
