What a happy surprise on a Friday.
Friday was Teacher treat day because they are "crushing" it in the classroom.
Now they can "float" into the weekend!
Congratulations to our amazing October Students of the Month! This month, we celebrate students who demonstrate exceptional **responsibility** in all areas of their school experience.

Our Responsible Leaders

These outstanding Max Larsen students have shown what it means to be truly responsible by:
- Taking ownership of their learning and behavior in the classroom
- Following cafeteria expectations and cleaning up after themselves
- Being safe and inclusive leaders on the playground
- Showing respect and engagement in their specials classes

When students embrace responsibility, they develop essential life skills that will serve them well beyond their school years. These students are setting a positive example for their peers and contributing to our school's welcoming environment.

Join Us in Celebrating our Max Larsen students and take a moment to congratulate these exceptional students when you see them. Their commitment to responsibility makes Max Larsen Elementary a better place for everyone.

We are incredibly proud of all our Students of the Month and look forward to seeing continued growth in responsibility throughout the school year!

Halloween Costume Rules
🎃 Keep it Spooky, Not Scary: Avoid costumes with violent or bloody images. It's okay to look "spooky," but nothing gruesome or violent.
👁️ Masks and Makeup: Masks that cover the eyes are fine but not their entire face. We need to see who they are. Please keep makeup minimal and apply it at home. Remember, learning is still happening, so your child will need to remove their mask during class.
🧥 Safe Costumes: Make sure your child’s costume doesn’t have anything hanging below the wrist or ankle to avoid tripping or getting things caught.
🎒 Easy-to-Carry Props: If your child has props, (like fairy wings) they should be easy to manage, especially if they take the bus.
🚫 No Weapons: Please don’t include any toy weapons in the costume.
🏃 PE-Friendly Costumes: If your child has Physical Education on the 31st, pick a costume that’s safe and easy to move in, or easily removed for gym class.

Stay tuned for the final announcements on Thursday of when the parade will take place on Friday, October 31st. The forecast currently says morning showers. If this happens, our parade will take place at 1:00 PM, with classroom parties to follow.

Haitian Creole:

🚫 Pa Gen Zammo: Tanpri, pa mete okenn zam jwèt nan kostim nan.
🏃 Kostim ki Apwopriye pou Edikasyon Fizik: Si pitit ou gen klas Edikasyon Fizik nan 31, chwazi yon kostim ki an sekirite epi fasil pou deplase, oswa ki fasil pou retire pou klas jimnastik.

Rete tann pou dènye anons yo nan jedi sou kilè parad la ap fèt nan vandredi 31 oktòb. Pwojè tan an kounye a di lapli nan maten. Si sa rive, parad la ap fèt a 1:00 PM, epi pati nan klas yo ap swiv.

25-26 school calendar

Dear Max Larsen Elementary Families,

We are excited to welcome our Cardinals back for an incredible new school year! Our entire staff has been working diligently to create a nurturing and dynamic learning environment for your children.

Arrival and Breakfast
Our doors open at 8:25am. This year, all students will continue to receive FREE breakfast and lunch. Morning arrival procedures are designed for smooth transitions. Kindergarten and first-grade students will have breakfast in the cafeteria before moving to the playground. Young 5 students will first go to the playground and then have breakfast in their classroom.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Safety
To ensure student safety, we have specific protocols in place. For drop-off, please queue on Parkhurst Street. This line will turn at Fremont Street. Please do not physically stop along the yellow line on Fremont Street to allow others to safely pass. Also, please do not block the bus entrance/exit or residential driveways. Staff will be available to assist children exiting vehicles. Special needs drop-off is located at the Clay Street staff parking lot. Please display your parking placard in your side window so our staff and resource officers get to know you.  Walking drop-offs should use the "see you later" spot at the building entrance.

Afternoon Pick-Up
Afternoon pick-up procedures include displaying a window placard for quick dismissal. Students will be dismissed at 3:55 pm. Walkers should be picked up at the playground exit doors. Please note that there will be no entry into hallways or the building during drop off or pick-up.

Important Reminders

Please remember to:
- Bring name placards
- Call the office 30 minutes before dismissal if pick-up plans change
- Have a driver's license ready if no placard is available

We can't wait to see our wonderful students tomorrow morning!

Warmly,

Mrs. Hardway

Dear Parents and Guardians of Max Larsen Elementary, Today, our school conducted a routine emergency preparedness drill. We want to proactively communicate with you about this important safety practice. What You Should Know: - A planned safety drill took place during school hours - Students were calm and followed all established procedures - We prepared students beforehand by reading the book "I'm Not Scared, I'm Prepared" If Your Child Discusses the Drill: - Listen supportively - Reassure them that drills are about staying safe - Emphasize that these practices help everyone be prepared

April 16, 2025 Jefferson Elementary School was closed today due to an electrical situation overnight. A custodian smelled what could best be described as wire burning. The custodian called 911 and Coldwater Fire Department responded. There was no fire, but the smell was confirmed. This district’s maintenance department was sent to the building as there was no power at the time. Jepson Electric sent an electrician who tested lines entering the building from the transformer. Three lines were found to be inoperable. In order to restore power to the building, the three lines needed to be replaced, and the estimated time for the work would not allow for us to open the building today. As of 10:30 this morning, power has been restored and our maintenance department and technology director were testing throughout the building to ensure no damage. A very special thanks to the custodian who contacted 911, Coldwater Fire Department, our maintenance crew and Jepson Electric for the quick response to get our building back up and running! On Saturday, April 4, 2025 a few Coldwater High School students contacted Coldwater High School administrators and the Coldwater High School Resource Officer about a SnapChat posting. The SnapChat posting was an image of a weapon and a Cheetos bag with the message “Guys come to school tomorrow I have Cheetos.” The Coldwater City Police Department was contacted immediately and started to investigate. The Coldwater City Police Department, working with CHS administrators, were able to identify the student in the posting. The investigation included working with the Branch County Sheriff’s Department and the Bronson Police Department. The investigation found that there was no credible threat to any students, staff or others at Coldwater High School. As always, the safety of our school and our community depends on all of us. We appreciate that CHS students brought this to our attention so that it could be investigated. Whenever we see something suspicious, it should always be reported.
