Coldwater Families:
We have been very fortunate this year with weather and the ability to keep schools open for our students. As conditions could change, I would like to take this opportunity to share with you some of the considerations that go into the decision to close schools for a day.
When considering a closure, we monitor weather forecasts, road conditions, and special alerts/updates from the National Weather Service. We also collaborate with other districts in the county and talk with area superintendents, maintenance, and transportation teams to assess the safety of travel and the condition of our facilities.
The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. To determine if a closure is necessary, we closely monitor:
Weather Conditions: Heavy snow, ice, or freezing rain that may create hazardous travel conditions.
Road Conditions: Reports from transportation officials and local authorities regarding road safety for buses and personal vehicles.
Wind Chill: Extreme cold, particularly wind chill temperatures below -20°F, which may pose a danger to students waiting at bus stops or walking to school.
We strive to make decisions as early as possible and will communicate closures through local media, emails, social media, and our district app. Please ensure your contact information is up to date in our system.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to ensure everyone’s safety.

Yesterday in 6th grade English, students brought grammar to life with a fun card game called Pronoun!
Inspired by Uno, the game challenged students to apply their knowledge of subjective, objective, and possessive pronouns. Learning through play? That’s a win-win! English class doesn’t have to be boring!

Mrs. Kelley’s and Mrs. Finn’s classes celebrated National Pizza Week with the book, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘥 𝘏𝘦𝘯 𝘔𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘢 𝘗𝘪𝘻𝘻𝘢! Students engaged in comprehension and math activities throughout the week, then wrapped it up by making their own homemade pizzas. What a fun way to learn!
