Welcome Back Lakeland Families! This is Sarah Neubecker, principal, with a few reminders. We go back to school tomorrow! The building opens for breakfast and playground supervision at 8:15. Please avoid dropping off early. Students will have the choice to eat breakfast or to play in the morning. This is a change from previous years. In poor weather, we will supervise students in the gym, instead of the playground. Also, dismissal is at 3:45 and early release at 2:30. Please avoid early pick up. It impacts your child's learning. Thank you for trusting your child with us! We are excited to partner with you!

Our back-to-school newsletter is now available at https://secure.smore.com/n/nk0ms - don't forget our Open House on Wednesday, 8/13 from 6-7:30 PM!

Reminder for the upcoming school year: We serve FREE BREAKFAST every school day from 8:15-8:35 AM in the cafeteria!

Hello 6th Grade Parents!
We are very excited that your child will be attending Legg Middle School, and we look forward to seeing them at our 6th Grade Orientation Day on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, beginning at 8:00 A.M. Our WEB Program will help your 6th grader get off to a great start!
WHAT IS WEB?
WEB is a nationwide program designed to welcome and support 6th graders by connecting them with WEB Leaders, who are positive, responsible, hand-selected 8th graders. Your student’s WEB Leaders will help them feel more comfortable and also assist them in achieving success in their first year of middle school. Doesn’t that sound great? It is!
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
1. Your child will receive an invitation sent via email to orientation. If they have not received the invitation by July 30th, please email Mr. Smith at smithb@ccscards.org to request one.
2. A day or two before orientation, your child will also receive a phone call from their WEB Leader, personally inviting them to orientation day and providing details on where to be and what time to arrive. The Leaders can also answer any questions they may have.
3. Your student is encouraged not to bring backpacks, purses, or other like items as the day is quite active.
4. Since the day is active, please ensure that your student wears comfortable clothing that allows for unrestricted movement.
5. Cell phone use is forbidden on this day.
This is a student-only function, so we encourage you to let your child attend on their own. Drop-off will be at the car rider entry doors, accessible from the parking lot located off Western Avenue. Students will be ready for pick up at 12:30 PM.
We look forward to a great orientation day!
The WEB Coordinators,
Mr. Smith and Mrs. Bachler

April 16, 2025
Jefferson Elementary School was closed today due to an electrical situation overnight. A custodian smelled what could best be described as wire burning. The custodian called 911 and Coldwater Fire Department responded. There was no fire, but the smell was confirmed. This district’s maintenance department was sent to the building as there was no power at the time.
Jepson Electric sent an electrician who tested lines entering the building from the transformer. Three lines were found to be inoperable. In order to restore power to the building, the three lines needed to be replaced, and the estimated time for the work would not allow for us to open the building today.
As of 10:30 this morning, power has been restored and our maintenance department and technology director were testing throughout the building to ensure no damage.
A very special thanks to the custodian who contacted 911, Coldwater Fire Department, our maintenance crew and Jepson Electric for the quick response to get our building back up and running!

Superintendent

Due to a building problem, Jefferson Elementary School is closed today, Wednesday April 16.

On Saturday, April 4, 2025 a few Coldwater High School students contacted Coldwater High School administrators and the Coldwater High School Resource Officer about a SnapChat posting. The SnapChat posting was an image of a weapon and a Cheetos bag with the message “Guys come to school tomorrow I have Cheetos.” The Coldwater City Police Department was contacted immediately and started to investigate.
The Coldwater City Police Department, working with CHS administrators, were able to identify the student in the posting. The investigation included working with the Branch County Sheriff’s Department and the Bronson Police Department. The investigation found that there was no credible threat to any students, staff or others at Coldwater High School.
As always, the safety of our school and our community depends on all of us. We appreciate that CHS students brought this to our attention so that it could be investigated. Whenever we see something suspicious, it should always be reported.
Dr. Steven Hope Paul Flynn
HS Principal CCS Superintendent
